Film BBC na motivy románu Jane Austenové, pozměněn částečně oproti předloze, přesto lepší adaptace.
Fanny Priceová (Frances OConnor) opouští ve dvanácti letech chudý domov a odchází ke své tetě na panství Mansfield Park. Tam, uprostřed nádherné anglické krajiny, vyrůstá u Sira Thomase Bertrama (Harold Pinter) s jeho dětmi - dvěma dcerami a syny Tomem a Edmundem (Johny Lee Miller). Na zámku, v okouzlujícím, avšak pevnými společenskými pravidly se řídícím prostředí, dospívá Fanny v krásnou a vzdělanou mladou dámu. Život v Mansfield Park a mnohdy neupřímné, hrané vztahy mezi jeho obyvateli zprvu jen sleduje a mistrně komentuje. Pak se o ní začne ucházet kavalír Henry Crawford (Alessandro Nivola) a Fanny čeká chvíle rozhodnutí. Sir Thomas jí radí, aby si Henryho vzala. Základem bohatství Bertramů je ale utrpení a krev černých otroků na vzdálených plantážích. Proto vidí Sir Thomas i v krásné Fanny pouhou drahocennou věc. Uposlechne nakonec Fanny rad Sira Thomase nebo nabere její život zcela jiný směr?
